This page contains answers to questions that may have general relevance to
performance of our programs. As we realize that a majority of technical support questions may be of interest to a wider community
of users, we have decided to selectively publish our answers online so that
also other users may benefit from them, possibly cutting down instances of
receiving e-mails with similar queries.
Please note that
technical support is not offered to unregistered users of programs requiring
registration as well as to users of freeware programs. We reserve the right not
to reply to such user requests. Even if you qualify for technical support,
before contacting us by e-mail please check this page first to make sure that we had not
been already approached with a similar query that has been answered in the

Asked Questions... and Answers:
|
I have noticed that you
stopped packing your programs into installers and now upload only the
program file itself. Why so? |
Installers usually cannot proceed with installation if the user does not
have full administrative rights on the given PC. On the other hand, our
programs are written to run without admin priviledges. In order to let them run
on all PCs without restriction the installers have been dumped, which also
cuts down the size of the delivered files and at the same time is more
transparent to the user. As our programs are self-contained (do not depend
on installing nor install any external modules like DLLs, OCXs, etc.)
comprising of a single EXE file, having no installer does not complicate
their use at all. In addition to this, in our releases starting with 2008 we
have returned in storing the configuration settings into an INI file to
bypass possible administrator's limitations set on accessing the system's
registry. In this sense, our programs have become truly portable and ready to
run from any writable media,
which makes them a welcome solution when using different PCs at public
places.

Can
I use Configuration LifeGuard
in Windows NT, 2000, Me or XP? |
No, you
can not.
Configuration LifeGuard is a program designed specifically for Windows
95/98 and it is not compatible with Windows NT, 2000, Me or XP, which
all
use different architecture for storing as well as restoring of system
configuration information. As these operating systems come with their own
system restore concept, there are no plans as yet to develop a version of
Configuration LifeGuard for the above platforms.

Can
I use Configuration LifeGuard
to create my backup on a floppy instead of in its default folder on the
hard disk? |
You
cannot create your backup on a floppy using Configuration LifeGuard. The
reason for this being so is that the backup would normally not fit on a
single floppy (mainly due to the size of the Registry files) and more than
one floppy (often even more than two) would be necessary. This would deny
the logic and the concept Configuration LifeGuard follows: to have an
easy, handy, speedy and effective solution at hand for a majority of
situations that normally arise, mainly when testing and uninstalling new
software but also for system crashes. If you insist on being able to
create the entire backup on diskettes, you may either manually ZIP the
contents of the backup folder to floppies or you may find this feature
e.g., in Norton Utilities by Symantec. Bear in mind, however, that the
more complicated and time consuming procedure you are expected to take,
the less often you are inclined to do it, which may result in your not
having the latest backup when needed, thus restoring an older backup in a
sudden case of emergency. With Configuration LifeGuard, you can easily
create the latest backup at each successful restart of Windows (or at any
other time) and the whole procedure often takes just about 5 seconds with
only 3 mouse-clicks, including the program's launch... To the best of our knowledge, no other program can match such a performance.

Why
can't I separately select the Registry files when using
Configuration
LifeGuard? |
The point is that many programs
often put their configuration information into both of these files. Hence,
restoring only one of them may cause your system to lose part of its
previous configuration, become unstable and even malfunction. To avoid this
risk, Configuration LifeGuard always handles the Registry files in
pairs, be it a backup, restore or undo restore. This ensures 100% return
to your previous Registry configuration.

I
cannot find Swap File Overwriter
at your Web site. Where is it? |
Swap File Overwriter
has been discontinued. It may reemerge later in another form.

How
I can I check that AutoClipClear has
really cleared my Clipboard after I had run it? |
Run the
built-in Windows system
tool Clipboard Viewer (file Clipbrd.exe, find it in the main Windows
folder); alternatively, click on menu Start, Run, type "clipbrd" (no quotes)
and press Enter to display the contents of your Clipboard. After you run
AutoClipClear it will be empty.
