What is the basic checkout experience?

The typical checkout experience consists of three primary steps.

The Product Listing

Kagi's shopping cart software is versatile enough to present visitors with basic product listings and full-featured marketing pages. As a Kagi supplier, you can manage your product listing from the Kagi Store Wizard.

Shoppers can explore your Kagi-hosted product listings or marketing pages and add products to the shopping cart.

On any of your product listing pages, you may place form elements (buttons, text fields, menus, etc.) that permit your shoppers to add products to their shopping carts. Country and currency are set dynamically by the store, based on a customer's computer location. If they choose to pay in a different currency, or register to a different country, they can make their changes here.

The Cart Page

On the cart page, the customer can immediately review the products they have chosen to purchase before beginning the checkout process. This allows them to check that they are buying the correct product, quantity, or service that they expected.

The cart page allows shoppers to see and edit their shopping cart and begin the checkout process.

The cart page provides your customers with preliminary pricing information (before any tax or discounts are applied) and the ability to edit product quantities or remove items from the cart. Country and currency options are displayed again, in case a customer forgot to change these options on the previous page.

Step One: Billing Information

After confirming the products in their cart, the customer is directed to the billing information page. Here, they can choose their payment type and begin entering their billing information. Customers paying with credit cards do not need to select a specific card type, as the Kagi store is able to determine the card type automatically. Required fields are clearly marked in yellow, while optional fields are marked in white. An additional "Coupon/Promo Code" field is displayed when stores have product or order discounts configured.

Customers have the option to use their billing information as the primary registration (for software) or shipping (for physical goods) details for the order. To ship or register to another person or location, they simply select "A Different Address" to reveal an alternate address section.

Step Two: Order Review

Before providing their credit card number, customers can review their order once more to ensure accuracy. They can review the item details, email address, and billing/shipping address(es). Once details are confirmed, the customer can enter their credit card number, expiration date, and security ID to complete the purchase. Note: If the payment method is not credit card, the customer may be asked for additional information, such as check number, purchase order number, etc., as they relate to the chosen payment method.

Step Three: Order Confirmation

Once the order is submitted, the customer receives an order confirmation page, letting them know that their order has been successfully placed and that they will receive and email with their product details. Note: If you deliver activation codes using Kagi's ACG service, the registration information can be displayed immediately on this page, below the item details.
